Bidding In Person
To bid in person, you will need to register for and collect a numbered paddle before the auction begins. Please remember to bring government-issued proof of identity, such as a drivers license or password. If you’re a first-time bidder, a valid Visa or MasterCard will be required in order to create your account. To place your bid, simply raise your paddle until the auctioneer acknowledges you. The auctioneer will take increasing bids on each lot, until only one bidder remains. The final bidder purchases the lot.
To register for phone bidding, you will need to register with the house before submitting a phone bid form. The form may be submitted online and is available below. You may also fill out a phone bid form in the gallery. Per the Terms and Conditions of Sale at Clarke Auction, phone bidders are required to open the bidding on each of their registered lots at half of the low end of the respective estimate for those lots.
Bidders must submit the Absentee Bid Form online or fill out the form in person in the gallery. The top limit of each bid must be provided on the sheet and must be in an amount that corresponds to the appropriate bidding increment. Bids written with incorrect increments will be taken at the previous (lower) bid amount. A list of bid increments used by Clarke Auction is available below.
Live and Absentee Bidding Online
Clarke Auction provides live internet bidding on both LiveAuctioneers and BidSquare. In order to bid online with a LiveAuctioneers and/or Bidsquare account, bidders must create a respective user account independent of Clarke. Once a bidder creates their own LiveAuctioneers and/or Bidsquare user account, they will have the ability to register and bid on Clarke’s upcoming sales on those sites. In order to be approved to bid with LiveAuctioneers and Bidsquare, a ClarkeNY.com user account with valid credit card is also required.
- Phone bidders agree to start their bidding at half the low end of the estimate or $200, whichever is higher.
